Electra Zine
Inspiring the next generation of female and non-binary DJs.
Problem
The electronic music scene has historically underrepresented female and non-binary DJs and producers, leading to a lack of visible role models and community support for aspiring artists.
Process
Electra Zine was created to inspire and amplify the voices of the next generation of female and non-binary DJs and producers. The project involved conducting interviews with local artists, combined with original design elements, illustration, collage, and entirely hand-drawn typography. Photography and styling were developed in collaboration with photographer Rosie Baird to bring an authentic visual dimension. The zine was self-published and distributed within the community to foster awareness and encourage participation.
Result
An engaging, empowering publication that highlights underrepresented talent, encourages inclusivity in electronic music, and serves as both an artistic project and a community resource.
